Two Jersey Brothers
Brothers Nicholas R. and Robert A. Finamore trace their boyhood life in the small, seemingly quiet one square mile town of Haledon, New Jersey. They were raised in an Italian American family in the Depression and World War II era with sets of grandparents who emigrated from Fraine and Caserta, Italy. Most of their close family members worked in the Paterson "Silk City" mills. They delve into the values of respect, discipline and a dedicated work ethic they assimilated in their family bonds. In this vivid memoir they introduce you to colorful Haledon customers whom they served in their family's vintage Belmont Diner from 1945 to 1953.
Robert’s Bio
Robert A. Finamore had a career in education for 35 years at four different high schools serving in a variety of teaching and coaching roles. He was involved in sports with baseball and football at Paterson Central High School; and four years in D1 football at Memphis State University. He was drafted by the New York Jets football team in 1965 and subsequently served for 2 years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Shirley his wife of 44 years passed away in 2008. He lives alone in Wayne, New Jersey and spends much of his time with son Rob, daughter DeAnne and family and friends.
Nick’s Bio
Nicholas R. Finamore had a career at AT&T Network Systems from 1961 until he retired as a Regional Vice President in 1995. AT&T then contracted with him for another 12 years as a loaned executive to three consecutive Governors of the State of New Jersey helping to improve operations in their various departments. He lives in Annandale, New Jersey with his wife Marie of 58 years and they summer in Cape Cod with their 3 children and 6 grandchildren....
