The Weight of What Remains: Poems of War, Memory and Renewal - A Veteran’s Journey Through Loss, Sea, and Home

Image
The Weight of What Remains: Poems of War, Memory and Renewal - A Veteran’s Journey Through Loss, Sea, and Home The Weight of What Remains  is a powerful and deeply human poetry collection tracing one man’s journey through war, memory, exile, and renewal. From the dust of distant battlefields to the hush of the sea at dusk, these poems move across continents and decades — from youth and military service to love, loss, healing, and the quiet strength of endurance. Written with clarity and emotional honesty, this collection explores: • War and its lasting echoes • Veteran experience and unseen battles • PTSD, survival, and brotherhood • Migration, identity, and belonging • Nature, sea, and the wisdom of the earth • Grief, memory, and lifelong love These poems do not glorify conflict. They bear witness to it — and to what survives after. Through images of deserts, oceans, stone walls, factories, fields, and moonlit waters, the voice that emerges is reflectiv...

Ube Cassava

Image
Ube Cassava UBE CASSAVA is a medley of two beloved Filipino delicacies: ube (purple yam) and cassava (tapioca). Known for its vibrant color and unique flavor, this dessert has quickly become a globally acclaimed favorite amongst  kababayan  and foreigners alike. But little do people know that  cassava can be lethal  if prepared incorrectly. Rife with introspection, longing, and resilience, Mariella Clarisse concocts a multifaceted narrative of what the coming-of-age experience looks like from a (queer) immigrant perspective. “The identity of the Filipino today is of a person asking what is his identity.” - Nick Joaquín, National Artist of the Philippines Click here to get Ube Cassava on Amazon / Kindle / Kindle Unlimited

"Fighting the Workplace Mob"

Image
"Fighting the Workplace Mob" by Jesse Rosson My name is Jesse Rosson. I worked as the Human Resources Manager at Flynt Management Group, LLC and was stationed at HUSTLER Casino. I believed my calling there was simple: to lead with integrity, to protect the casino, and to uphold the principles of fairness and honesty in the workplace. But when I uncovered conduct that clashed with those very principles, I was forced to confront a choice: remain silent and protect my career or speak up and risk losing it all. I chose to speak up and use my voice. That decision led to my unlawful termination and the long, painful legal battle that followed. This book is more than a record of that fight. It is also a testimony of how God met me in my darkest hour. When my career crumbled, my faith was tested like never before. Yet through the ashes of loss, God revealed a greater purpose: to walk in truth, no matter the cost. As I grew closer to my faith, I meditated and prayed on this bible ve...

Hodgepodge A Random Collection of Poems and Songs Like Nothin' You've Ever Read

Image
Hodgepodge A Random Collection of Poems and Songs Like Nothin' You've Ever Read By Jerry D. Jackson What if a book refused to stay in one lane—and instead invited you to wander? Hodgepodge: A Random Collection of Poems and Songs Like Nothin’ You’ve Ever Read  isn’t built like a tidy poetry anthology; it feels more like opening a well-worn notebook found on a kitchen table, its pages filled over years of living. The world inside is stitched together from memory, humor, heartbreak, faith, satire, and sudden bursts of song. One page leans into playful rhythm and country wit; the next pivots toward raw reflection or spiritual reckoning. There’s no single road here—only a series of side paths, each carrying its own mood. The atmosphere shifts constantly, and that’s the point. Some pieces carry the cadence of front-porch storytelling, where laughter drifts as easily as summer air. Others move inward, grappling with mortality, regret, grace, or the quiet persistence of belief. The ...

Stuck In The Middle

Image
Stuck In The Middle As a child, you do not understand the word stuck, but as you grow, you understand the depth of this word. Stuck means being unable to move or progress due to being fixed in place. It might be because you glued something, taped it up, or cemented it in place. Or it could be that you're unable to remove yourself from a situation, thinking it would cause more trouble than it's worth. Something like a loveless relationship. But in the second instance, I would argue that you're only as stuck as you want to be, and almost anything can be unstuck if you're willing to accept the consequences. But in the case of the title of this book, it's at truly sticky situation. Don't stay stuck because society or parental guilt says that's the way it should be. Be strong enough to get yourself unstuck and know that in all things you are the most important one and you are always enough! Click here to get Stuck In The Middle on Barnes & Noble

Life, Love, and the In-Between: A Geriatrician's Journey Through Aging and the Meaning of Life

Image
Life, Love, and the In-Between: A Geriatrician's Journey Through Aging and the Meaning of Life Life, Love, and the In Between I have walked with people as they age, change, and live their lives, and I have been with them at the bedside when they are dying. What they taught me changed how I understand love, loss, and what it means to live well. As a geriatrician, Dr. Golnosh Sharafsaleh has spent years accompanying people across the full arc of life. She has witnessed how meaning evolves as certainty fades, how identity shifts with time, and how connection often deepens when life becomes more complex, not less. When her own life was altered in ways she could not have prepared for, the lessons she had absorbed over years of caring for others became deeply personal. The distance between doctor and human being disappeared, and the wisdom she had once observed was now lived. This book is not a chronicle of decline or a collection of medical stories. It is a reflection on ho...

Conversations with Paul

Image
Conversations with Paul What happens when a woman who trusts science, logic and reason meets a man whose life was defined by faith? Find out when you read Conversations With Paul. Professor Elizabeth Carpenter is confident, disciplined and firmly grounded in what she can measure and explain. God, in her view, is a question that science should be able to answer, but then she meets Paul—not a metaphor, not a dream, but the Apostle Paul, sent across time for a promise she never expected. Conversations With Paul is a powerful, personal encounter between a modern skeptic and one of history’s most persuasive voices of faith. It’s not a sermon, it’s a dialogue; honest, challenging and quietly transformative. As Beth walks her own modern Damascus Road, she begins to see that faith doesn’t silence reason—it deepens it—and that the answers she finds might be much more than she ever asked for. A Medical Doctor Should Never Say That...: Itinerary of an AIDS specialist

Image
A Medical Doctor Should Never Say That...: Itinerary of an AIDS specialist 35 million people are still infected by the HIV virus across the globe, despite undeniable scienti c progress. In France, 140,000 people are currently diagnosed HIV-positive, while 30,000 are unknowingly infected. In the words of Dr. Alain Lafeuillade, author of a work intended to shake up our certainties and take a critical look at France's public institutions, "The War Is Not Over". The title of "A Medical Doctor Should Never Say That!" is no coincidence. Dr. Lafeuillade's resolutely irreverent character even earned him an arrest. Faithful to his convictions, he was nicknamed "The Outsider" by Parisian peers astonished at his audacity: a local hospital doctor who organizes international conventions in Toulon, then Marseille and Miami, attended by acclaimed specialists such as Professor Robert Gallo, the co- discoverers of the HIV virus, Bob Siliciano and many other ...

Flowers from Ashes

Image

While London celebrates the turn of the century, fourteen-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzie" Banfield unknowingly spends her last night with her family as a whole. On the first dawn of 1900, Lizzie's world has shattered: her mother is dead, and the siblings she promised to protect are at the mercy of their estranged, wealthy, Great Aunt Martha. Deemed ruined by her mother's poverty and desperation, Lizzie is torn away from her brother and sister. She is exiled to Milbourne Manor, a grim reformatory in the windswept north, designed to break the spirits of "wayward" girls. Under the iron rule of the cruel Matilda Smith, Lizzie is stripped of her name and dignity, forced to scrub floors until her hands bleed, and is told she is destined for the same gutter as her mother. But amidst the cruelty of the Manor, Lizzie discover...
